I went to the Melbourne cup this year, and as you can see, I went in keeping with my recent peacock obsesion. When I told Terry (my canadian friend) that I was going to the cup he asked why I would take time off work to go to a horse race. Try explaining to someone whos not from australia that most people in melbourne get a four day weekend for a horse race.

I had a great time though, I could have done with the sun being a little less intense (I am rather burnt today)
